My travel experience
For me; visiting new places has always been a pastime and a fun exercise. But staying away from home for a long duration is quite difficult. Being a homesick , I hate being away from home and so the idea of hostel was equally inimical .To get rid of this I opted for pursuing masters while living in hostel. This made me choose Malappuram centre after my selection in Aligarh Muslim University . It is situated in God’s own country Kerala. Malappuram in local language stands for "the place of the hills or mountains". And throughout the district, small hills dot around the green and lush lands, with inter-winding rivers, bridges and forests . It reflects its name surrounded by green landscape. Some people hesitate to go to this centre citing difficulties of location. But take my word, go for it as this place will stay with you for a long time even after you leave campus. Apart from its exceptionally good facilities and well reputed faculty, it’s lush green campus will please you. If you happen to be green panther this place is for you.
Though it is quite tough to leave comfort of the home . Some people get happy about getting freedom but for me it is a bag of new responsibilities, new experiences and new set of problems. The nervousness and anxiety was actually killing the excitement of a new college. As they say nothing comes easy , learning can only be achieved by getting uncomfortable. Leaving your comfort zone behind will help you to find how capable you are when you are faced with something that you had never thought you will encounter in life..
When students plan to visit the campus after the Admissions counselling they find nothing or ambiguous information.
To help them in the process, I decided to write a post about what crossed my mind was to describe my journey from home to hostel . I hope it gives you an insight and make you less worried when you’re travelling for the very first time to Malappuram campus.
So now let us have a complete itinerary to guide you while travelling. I will describe my entire journey in a step-by-step process so that it becomes easy for you to understand.
Taking a flight
I took a flight from Lucknow Airport. From India, we have many connecting flights to the nearby airports from cities i.e Lucknow , Varanasi, Delhi , Kanpur and Mumbai (as of March 2020).You can take any flight of your choice to 3 nearby airports namely Kannur, Kochi or Kozhikode.
From airport to campus
Either take a radio taxi or local bus which will be available at airport itself .You can take a taxi to the campus . Taxi prices are exorbitant like in most of the places for example you may have to pay 3500 INR or more from Kochin airport to the campus. The option to take local transport which are fairly reasonable i.e. 300-350 INR but it will leave you at the specified bus stops and from there you’ll have to take an auto. If you’re okay with this kind of arrangement it is best for you to go for a local transport otherwise book yourself a cab and move without any hassle. Booking a bus can be done beforehand using link

Where to stay?
You need not to worry about your stay because the campus is having facility of guest house. You just need to pay a nominal amount for food and accommodation . You can stroll in the premises enjoying sudden rains in month of August, September, October . As you will be near the local market, you can go to explore it in the evening. It's a good market to buy souvenirs and there are many cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy the local cuisine and other cuisines as well.
Overall you will have a good journey if you happen to take good company along. It can be your friends, family or other students you met while counselling process. Avoid travelling alone as it will be a long journey . You will not be familiar to the local language so being in a group may help you tackle situation.
I hope you had a happy reading . If yes, do share it with your friends and family and any one who is planning a trip to Malappuram campus. Comment and let me know your reviews and yes do tell me what you want me to write related to the campus next.
